"If you love MMOs you'll want to check out Guild Wars 2 and if you hate MMOs you'll really want to check out Guild Wars 2". That's ArenaNet's founder Mike O'Brien's ambitious words in the latest GW2 video. Not only Mike O'Brien, several key members of ArenaNet also make the similar manifesto, promising you Guild Wars 2 will change the MMO world. I bet you've been tired of hearing such kind of words and you'd like some gaming footages, some battle scenes. You'll get what you want in the trailer below.
In the trailer(around 4min 10sec) you will see 2 giant hands reaching out from the ground. That's an earth elemental, summoned by an enemy shaman. Then you will see a steel construction, it's a charr stronghold called Steeleye Span, pretty cool right? Another impressive thing is the dragon with lightning around(at 4min 50sec), it's called The Shatterer and will meet you at Gamescon's demo.
Speaking of Gamescon's demo, the developer just revealed the content of the demo. A level 1 human character and a level 47 charr character will be available for you. If you play human, you are going to defend human villagers with other players and go into the personal story. If you want to try some cool skills, you should choose the charr character.
You’ll be able to play a human character starting at level 1, or a charr character starting at level 47 with Guild Wars 2 Gold. For your first demo I recommend you play as human. You’ll get to experience the personal, branching story we’ve been talking about; you’ll get to band together with other players to defend human villagers and push back marauding centaurs in a variety of events; you’ll get to experience the active combat system and cross-profession combos; and you’ll have a huge open world to explore. Then, once you’re an expert at the game, come back and try playing again as a high-level charr. You won’t see as much story playing as a charr (since we don’t want to spoil the story for you that far into the game) but instead you’ll have a wide variety of high-level skills to experiment with, and you’ll be able to participate in some truly epic battles.
