Want a ghost chip? One entrepreneurial Trade Me seller is offering the opportunity to grab a whole bag of ghost chips.
The Wellington-based seller is offering an empty Pak 'n' Save bag containing the alleged ghost chips, (Ghost Gen)and a blank receipt as proof that the chips are in fact ghost chips.
The seller claims they "felt something strange happening in the chip aisle at the supermarket today and when I checked my receipts at home it all became clear" - they had returned with a bag of ghost chips.
The listing - which is fundraising for the Horn of Africa famine - had already received more than 13,000 hits and 38 bids reaching $43 by 7.30pm. One potential buyer asked what flavour the chips are, but as they are ghost chips, the seller was unsure.
The auction - which closes on Saturday - follows a new ad from the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) as part of its ongoing road safety campaign.
The humourous ad features a young man pondering whether or not to tell his mate not to drive home, and imagining that his dead friend would offer him ghost chips he would not be able to touch.
