The TV show was such a major hit, why not do a movie version? Well, okay, so maybe the upcoming City of Heroes movie is not based on the NBC hit “Heroes”. Mind you, most viewers won’t know this when the film, under the watchful eye of “Transformers” producer Tom DeSanto finally hits the big screen, and I suspect that’s what DeSanto and company are counting on. But maybe I’m just being overly cynical here. Anyways, Tom DeSanto is bringing the massively popular “City of Heroes” multiplayer online role-playing game to the big screen, and then maybe transition it into a TV series. Wait, what? Hmm…
In the game, players design their own superhero characters and pay a monthly fee of $14.99 to battle supervillains, aliens, madmen and other criminals. An expansion of the game also enables players to create their own villainous characters.
City of Heroes(CoH Influence) first bowed at retailers in 2004 and turned into a franchise, spawning the sequel City of Villains and a comic-book series published by Top Cow Productions.
