The thoroughly unsociable aliens known as Qularr made one mistake when they invaded Millennium City: they underestimated its heroes. The lobsters-who-walk-like-men may have terrorized local emergency crews, intimidated the mayor, and shut the whole city down in a bizarre blue energy field, but the city's heroes, including the celebrated Champions Online themselves, weren't going to give up their city without a fight. Two of those heroes found themselves at the center of the struggle not only to save the city's inhabitants but to drive back the entire invasion and send the Qularr back to their homeworld to lick their wounds.
Mr. Negative, a formerly cynical editor of a major metropolitan video game website, once aimed his webcam directly at his computer monitor in hopes of creating a trippy visual feedback loop. But he unwittingly opened a portal to the Negative Dimension and found himself switching places with his negative self. Apart from him unusual visual appearance, his friends consider it a considerable improvement. He now uses his powers of negativity in a much more positive way, whipping bolts of darkness at the forces of evil and slinging his criticisms at crime in general.
El Conejo Grande, a cheerfully former editor of the same website, is now basically a giant Mexican in a rabbit suit. It's not as involved an origin, but we like to tell him that it has an artistic simplicity that's bound to appeal to the masses. Whatever the case, his ability to slice his foes into submission with his claws is a highly desirable quality in a teammate, so even Mr. Negative has little reason to criticize the concept.
The two found themselves side-by-side in the thick of the action, recruited by the local police and representatives of the United Nations Tribunal on International Law (Champions Online Gold) to help out with the rescue efforts and to fight back the forces of the Qularr invaders who were filling the streets. From recovering stolen medical supplies to freeing civilians trapped under the rubble of collapsed buildings, the two heroes worked tirelessly to help reclaim the city, even taking time out to find someone's missing cat.
