E3 2011 Preview: Dungeon Fighter Online

The third game in Nexon's "Future of Free" campagin going on at this year's E3 at booth No. 635 is Dungeon Fighter Online which officially launched in North America today with Act 1: Warriors Unleashed.

DFO is another free-to-play MMO that boasts more the 200 million players worldwide. dfo gold is a blend of acrade-style beat ‘um up with engaging RPG elements to create a unique mix that makes it an MMO very much set apart from the pack.Like the rest of Nexon's line up, DFO has a Japanime style to it, avatars looking much like those found in King of Fighters games or other similar titles. The obvious is included in DFO as well, a grouped world to explore with other players called Arad, specified character skills and advancements, questing and loot, loot, loot.

The low-rez graphics may turn some people off, especially compared with the awesome animations and character models of their other two games showing at E3. Yet, there is a simple understatement to the graphics that hearkens back to old-school fighters, something the game is very akin to in many respects. dfo gold has been described as "everything [to] love about arcade games, but with the advantages of online interaction." Which is shaping up to be very true with its in-depth MMO game mechanics but classic button mashing, combo-brawler tactics.

DFO offers the following classes:

Fighter: Your typical hand-to-hand melee master.

Gunner: Your ranged hero.

Mage: The classic wizard.

Priest: Healer and group aide.

Slayer: A demonic character with a possessed arm that summons forth his dark powers.

Every class has skills that pertain to it specifically (no, really!) but a neat twist is that at levels 18 and 48 you get the option to add a subclass to your character's wrap sheet. Like other MMO's, skill points are added when you gain a level and you can use the points to beef up aspects of your character..

NPC's are funny and have lots of dialog. Nexon is even taking this a step further by scheduling to record voice-over to all the dialog sometime next week and later, add it to the game world.

PvP is all about dueling characters in Street Fighter-style combat. Towns and cities are open, but as for dungeons, they have a four player max and all dungeons are instanced. All instances have four difficulty levels and change each time you enter them adding a lot of replay value to each. At the end of a dungeon, a skill score is shown and randomly generated rewards are given depending on how you did. But don't worry, loot also drops from monster along the way so its not all just waiting to finish.

On a surprising note, dfo gold is doing better than WoW in China and also has stellar numbers in Korea. Thus, the North American launch is expected to be big. Also, as the game is already finished in its home countries, Nexon is primarily working on simple translation efforts, so all the content will be available from the on-set of its launch today.
